Leo Copers makes assemblages using everyday objects. He combines them in a unusaul way, giving them new meaning. By placing the objects in a different context, he creates an alienating effect and captures the viewer's imagination. The recurrent themes of violence and aggression are dipicted in an ironic, poetic and aesthetic manner. In his work, Copers experiments with the possibilities and shortcomings of museums, which he feels have evolved
from quiet mausoleums into theme parks for mass participation and art tourism. For "Museum to Scale 1/7", he burned out the interior of the museum completely.
