Francis Rawdon-Hastings, first Marquess of Hastings KG and second Earl of Moira (1754-1826) distinguished himself at Bunker Hill 1775. Prominent and successful during the American War of Independence he defeated a large body of Americans at Hobkirks Hill in 1781. He was Governor General of Bengal and Commander-in-Chief of the Forces in India 1812.
