The Swan Piano, An Important Neoclassical Painted And Parcel-Gilt Piano by Gaveau à Paris.
Marked 'Gaveau à Paris, no. 76.266'.
Gaveau was particularly renowned for its finely crafted art cases, and the present example was almost certainly created as an exhibition piece or a special commission. It combines exceptional aesthetics with exquisite sonority. The remarkable gilt wood Swan headings to the legs, with their majestic out swept wings, lift this piano from the very fine to the exceptional. They appear to be unique in Gaveau's oeuvre.
