Description & Technical information
A magnificent antique sapphire, ruby and diamond dragonfly brooch 'en tremblant', with cabochon ruby eyes and openwork wings set throughout with rose cut diamonds and circular cut sapphires, the tail set with circular cut sapphires, the body set with a cabochon sapphire. Mounted in platinum and 18 karat gold. Detachable brooch fitting. In original cream coloured leather fitted case marked `J. Nivelon, Fabricant, 31 Rue Vivienne, PARIS`. The case is stamped `J.C.` topped by a crown of a count. The back of the case has an old label with handwritten note ``Madame la Marquise de Contades` and a smaller label mentioning number `709`.
