The 8th edition of Masterpiece London opens on 29 June, bringing 150 of the most respected art, antique, jewelry and design exhibitors in the world together under one roof. Visitors can expect plenty of glitz from jewelry dealers like Boghossian, Wartski, Verdura and Wallace Chan, and plenty of light from Impressionist dealers like Bailly Gallery. They can also expect illumination from the manuscripts offered by Peter Harrington and Les Enluminures, tons of glow from Old Masters dealers like Dickinson, and plenty of shine courtesy of rare silver from dealers like Koopman Rare Art and N&I Franklin.
But the most buzz this year, both figuratively and literally, is being generated by one of the newest galleries to join the fair. Paul Kasmin Gallery
of New York City is the exclusive representative of the world renowned Chilean artist Iván Navarro, whose socio-politically themed, mirrored neon sculptures have made him a sensation in the contemporary art world.
Navarro currently has works in multiple important museums and his pieces have been the rage of recent fairs such as Art Basel Hong Kong. In a nod to his profound presence, in a space called Masterpiece Presents
, Masterpiece organizers teamed up with Paul Kasmin Gallery this year to commission a special installation by Navarro, the glowing green glory of which will greet attendees at the entrance to the fair.
