Far from sketchy, West End art dealers mount shows which will prove a big draw this summer

11/06/2012

IT is not just paintings which bring curators and collectors to St. James’s and Mayfair this month, overlapping with Master Paintings Week is the longer-established Master Drawings London which will have its 12th edition from June 27 to July 5.

Drawings and watercolours are doing fine on the market at the moment and a number of the 17 London galleries coordinating their shows were at the hugely successful Salon du Dessins in Paris three months ago.

Rather more low key than its paintings counterpart the drawings shows in London, which also host galleries from New York, Dusseldorf, Zurich and Madrid, is well-received and in 2007 the formula was replicated in New York.

Among the participants are Jean-Luc Baroni, Katrin Bellinger, Lowell Libson and Agnews who offer the pictured watercolour ‘In the Garden of the Villa Negroni’ at Rome by J.R.Cozens (1752-1799).
