Three decades in the business are brought to book

14/04/2012

MANHATTAN-based, Dutch-born Old Masters specialist Bob Haboldt celebrates his 30 years in the business in some style at the end of this month with the publication of Singular Vision. Haboldt & Co.’s Old Master Paintings and Drawings since 1983.

This lavish tome chronicles Bob Haboldt’s career dealing at the highest level and puts on record the more than 2000 important works he has handled along the way.

He has done well since leaving his post as New York president of the London firm Colnaghi to set up on his own and now works out of a gallery at 1000 Park Avenue, overlooking Central Park in the heart of the exclusive Upper East Side.

He also has a gallery on the equally swanky rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris, and another in his native Amsterdam but still finds time for fairs in Maastricht, New York and Florence.

And what is the Haboldt “singular vision”? Quality, authenticity and appeal of subject are the three main criteria says the dealer.

Certainly an extravagant as well as scholarly production the book costs $200 (£100, €150) from either of the three galleries.
