Monumental sculpture provides the finishing touch to luxury property development

13/04/2012

COMMERCIAL concerns are well aware of the kudos and potential profitability of commissioning works of art and London property developers Northacre and Minerva certainly have enhanced the market profile of their luxury 77-home flagship devlopment The Lancasters with a monumental new work by the distinguished sculptor Helaine Blumenfeld.

The 15ft high sculpture Tempesta will be unveiled on May 2 as the crowning glory and landmark in front of the Grade II-listed Bayswater building overlooking Hyde Park which has been undergoing meticulous restoration since 2007.

New York-born Helaine Blumenfeld, who was awarded an honorary OBE by Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt last year, is now one of our most eminent sculptors, a good choice by Northacre chairman Klas Nilsson who said: “The sculpture will perfectly reflect the grandeur of the original architecture and set off the award winning landscaping at The Lancasters.”

Also happy with the commission is St. James’s sculpture dealer Robert Bowman, who regularly shows Blumenfeld and opens an exhibition of her new work on May 10 –including the maquette of Tempesta.
