veritable bestiary which runs at 6 Rue de Beaune, Paris until July 9.
Beasts of all descriptions and all species,
mythological and real, are featured and the variety of shapes, colours and
textures is highlighted by the gallery’s new modern decor.
See an alabaster panther from the Temple of
Artemis in Ephesus alongside an Ancient Egyptian basalt baboon, an Ancient
Roman green porphyry frog and, of course, the Roman Imperial eagle (pictured).
Then from June 1 to 3 the whole Carré Rive
Gauche becomes red in tooth and claw with some 120 dealers in all disciplines mounting
displays on the theme of Wild Thing, a celebration of flora and fauna.
On
the evening of May 31 the exhibitions are previewed with receptions where the
galleries of the local association, which is celebrating its 35th
anniversary, stay open till late.
