Salomon Rombouts was a Dutch painter. He was the son of the painter Gillis Rombouts, with whom he may first have studied. He was admitted to the Haarlem guild in 1678. A landscape painter, his work reflects (and sometimes imitates) the Haarlem landscapes of Ruisdael and more particularly of Cornelis Decker (1625-78). He was in Florence in 1690. Collections Rombouts is represented in the following collections: Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam; Gallerie di Palazzo Leoni Montanari, Vicenza; The Louvre, Paris; The Wallace Collection, London; Norwich Museums, England; Museum der bildenden Künste, Leipzig, amongst others.
