Edgard Wiethase was a Realist painter and watercolourist of landscapes, rural scenes, interiors, portraits, and still lifes. He received his artistic training at the Academy of Antwerp and the NHISKA under the tutorship of the famous animal painter Frans Van Leemputten. He was a member of the artistic group "Als Ik Kan" in 1903. Eventually, Wiethase moved eventually to the outskirts of Brussels. His works have a certain stylistic connection with the technique used to paint frescos and his later works can be recognized by their particularly bright colours.
