Chris Webb is a very talented Sculptor and has been in the Art world for over 30 year, whether it be teaching or being a student.
Living in Taunton, Webb uses stone from Portland Bill, Dorset. Choosing the youngest stone of 60 Million years old, Webb deliberately chose this stone for its imperfections. Flecks of fossils and shells can be found in his sculptures. Chris Webb originally started off working as a Black Smith until he found his true passion with Stone and Bronze. Influenced by Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth, Webb Works from his drawings and is very much influenced by the human form. ‘I do not theorise or debate the meaning of them. They are simply about me trying to make beautiful pieces, which make me smile’ Chris Webb Chris Webb exhibited at the Chelsea Flower Show in May 2014. Another public commission of Webb’s can be found in Priorswood Gardens, Somerset. Which was opened to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee in 2012.
