Description & Technical information
This square Iznik tile, made of fritware, combines a rich variety of floral and foliage motifs painted in green, red, and two shades of blue under a clear glaze. The long serrated-edged leaf, often referred to as the saz style, is particularly striking; this motif is a Persian decorative style imported to the Ottoman court in the mid-sixteenth century.
