Brass, very finely chiselled, surface cleaned and newly
patinated, very good condition.
High-quality Viennese craftsmanship
Inscription, translated: "Already the night softens - / Out of this world / The master has spent it creating / Rapturously he listens to the sounds of the spheres. / Drunk with joy / And blissfully illuminated by the sparking of divinity / His spirit floats above the stars" (from a heliogravure by the printer Meisenbach, Riffarth & Co, Berlin, after a painting by Rudolf Eichstaedt, "Beethoven im Studierzimmer", around 1900).
