Ronny Van De Velde
The paintings of Koen Van den Broek are characterised by the urban landscape of Asia and America. He transforms a photographic image into a painted one. The use of photography has consequences for the composition. He frames his image in such a way that it leaves out something that may be vital for an understanding of the picture, while apparently insignificant details such as the dges of pavements, manhole covers and shadows are represented.
