Description & Technical information
This magical statue called Nkishi comes from the Songye tribe from DRC.
These kinds of small statues were used for personal family or individual use and were the result two different talented specialists: the ritual “priest” with beneficial powers and the carver.
It was collected by Mr Camille Biquet before 1946 and it belongs to a corpus of half a dozen small statues from the same hand, with a seeping patina and an elegant widen coiffure.
