Description & Technical information

Bergeret studied under Eugène Isabey and exhibited at the Salon between 1870 and 1908. Like Théodule Ribot (1823-1891), he focused his attention on still-lives and kitchen interiors, although in a different spirit. Bergeret’s paintings are rich, sensual evocations of objects and food bathed in a warm light.

Several still-lives by his hand are in the collection of the musée d’Orsay, Paris, the musée des Ursulines, Mâcon and in the musée des Beaux-Arts, Rouen.
