Description & Technical information

The tripod base is formed of three lion paws, incised palmettes at the juncture of the legs, a rosette flange at the join to the fluted shaft. A tongued flange at the upper end is surmounted by a spool from which four branches are projected. Each is terminating in a lotus blossom. The finial is in the form of a nude athlete on a socle. He is standing in contrapposto with his weight on his left leg. His arms are held out at his sides, holding an object in each hand, perhaps jumping weights, with short cap-like hair. His musculature is well defined
