Description & Technical information

The present work was used as the frontpage for Les Temps Nouveau, a French anarchist newspaper founded in 1895 by Jean Grave. Pissarro made various colour etching, however he made few colour lithographs. In a letter to his eldest son Lucien Pissarro on July 12th 1896 he writes: "Did  tell you that the colour print Vollard wants me to do is to be a lithograph? I should have preferred to do it in black and white, but it seems that colour is the fashion".
