From the Golden Gate Collection

A rubyback eggshell porcelain soup plate made by the French manufacturer Samson & Cie., decorated in famille rose enamels with a domestic scene within a leaf shaped reserve surrounded by seven borders of detailed designs.

This is a fine example of this type of nineteenth century French copy of the Chinese types made in the Yongzheng period.
