Set with seven carved cornelian scarabs, the reverse of each engraved in the 'a globolo' style featuring figures and scenes from ancient Greek and Etruscan mythology, each scarab framed and raised in high plinth mounts allover decorated with bead and wirework, spaced by hinged gold batons accented by wirework bands.
For a bracelet of very similar design which was donated to the Victoria & Albert Museum, see Jewellery 1789-1910: The International Era, Volume II, by Shirley Bury, pages 502-503. This bracelet, although also unsigned, was said by the donor, Mrs Bolckow, to have been bought from Castellani.
