With wire rim and on a round spreading collet foot, double C scroll handles with acanthus caps, the low-domed stepped lid with leafy finial, he body engraved around with mythical scenes including Jupiter riding on an eagle and bearing thunderbolts, another of a masted boat with Bacchus avenging himself on his kidnappers with the sailors leaping overboard and changing into dolphins, the lid with four reserves engraved with waterfowl; hunting dogs and rabbits; stags and a unicorn; and two climbing satyr figures watching a third bent-double, bordered by flowerheads, the underside, engraved with the arms of the Earl of Abington, crest above featuring a bearded man wearing a crown and motto below: 'VIRTVS ARIETE FORTIOR'.
