Description & Technical information

Millegrain edged box collet set with 67 single cut diamonds, mounted in platinum.

There has been little written about the Parisian jeweller Theodule Bourdier (b. 1837). Though a noted goldsmith and gold medal winner at the Exposition Universelles in Paris, Henri Vever mentions him only twice in his book "French Jewellery of the 19th Century". When the French Crown Jewels were sold off in 1885, Bourdier is recorded as being one of the successful buyers. He also appears to have been related to the Cartier family by marriage.
