A pair of famille rose loving cups and covers of European form with moulded double strap handles, the decoration in bright enamels with a bird on a rock with borders of flowers and floral panels on a puce scale ground.
The bird shown here is the shoudainiao or 'ribbon-tailled bird', a species which was popular in Chinese design and derived from the Paradise Flycatcher (Terpsiphone paradisii).
