Description & Technical information

This lampas fragment is woven in shades of green, silver and gold on a red ground. The central border features flowers, dots and leaves within lobed cartouches and roundels surrounded by split palmettes and leaves. The side border bears flowerheads within two circles, separated by dots and surrounded by pomegranates and foliage, contained within guard stripes of undulating leaves and flowerheads. A stylistically similar fragment can be seen in The David Collection, Copenhagen (Accession Number 34/1992). Click here for a link to the object.
