Description & Technical information
This large basket is probably, together with another basket made by Reynier Brandt in 1774, the largest and earliest in this style. The mentioned basket with the foliate supports, inscribed with SWJJ, is wide overall 39 cm., and recorded in the collection of A.N. Zadoks-Josephus Jattos in 1980. See Nederlands Kuntshistorisch Jaarboek, 1980, p.409. In this article, by Zadoks, a slightly smaller and later basket (1776) is illustrated as part of the collection in the National Museum of Ireland, Dublin. A similar basket with ball and claw feet and dated 1775 is in the collection of Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, see J.R. de Lorm
