Louise Riesener was the daughter of the painter Louis-Antoine-Léon Riesener, himself the grandson of the famous cabinetmaker of Kings Louis XV and Louis XVI and also a cousin of the artist Eugene Delacroix. Other portraits of Louise Riesener by Morisot are included in the collections of the Musée d’Orsay, Paris, the Musée Marmottan Monet, Paris and the Cleveland Museum of Art.
