Period Neoclassical
Origin London, consignment
Medium gold, Agate
Dimension 1.4 x 1.9 cm (0¹/₂ x 0³/₄ inches)
Interesting subject which is identified as the three side by side portraits of Augustus, Tiberius and Cotisone king of the Goths (Dacians) their ally. The work seems inspired by an amethyst carving (coll. Ionides) with the same effigy.
The portraits face left and are characterized by finely engraved details. The stone has a very attractive honey color tone. Light signs of wear.
