About the Gallery
Founded by Fred Mayor (1903-1973) in 1925, The Mayor Gallery was the first gallery to open its doors in Cork Street in Mayfair, London. James Mayor took over his father in 1973, offering their first commercial shows in England to many artists, such as E. Hesse, R. Lichtenstein, A. Martin, Rauschenberg, and Cy Twombly. Nowadays, the gallery continues to offer leading American Pop, Nouveau Realisme, Surrealist and Dada as well as the Post-War Zero and Concrete movements.
