An unusual Late Roman gold ring.
An unusual Late Roman gold ring.
Date 3rd-4th century A.D.
Epoque Late roman
Origine consignment, London
Medium gold
Made of a plain rounded hoop, and surmounted by a soldered thick rectangular plate of gold. On each side, two spherical beads.
The singularity of this ring lies in the fact that the plate had to be engraved and probably that the goldsmith did not have the opportunity to finish his work.
Beautiful conservation.
For a similar ring see Louvre Museum, Paris, inv. Bj 1039, from the Marquis Campana collection and date from the 3rd-4th century A.D.
