Small antique 19th century French red tortoiseshell and finely inlaid mantel clock by Marti of Paris.
The case of classical design is inlaid with delicate and detailed pewter and brass swag decoration and scrolls on a red tortoiseshell ground to the front and caddy top.
The velvet-covered dial is overlaid by the chapter ring and swag mount beneath. The hour striking movement bears the maker’s medal winning stamp of Saml. Marti & Cie.
Samuel Marti, Paris, won numerous Exhibition medals for their fine quality clocks in the mid-19th century.
