A Rare Pair of George III Period Satinwood Marquetry Tables, Attributed to Thomas Chippendale Junior
A Rare Pair of George III Period Satinwood Marquetry Tables, Attributed to Thomas Chippendale Junior
These elaborate tables are remarkably similar in their treatment and design to a pair of tables made by Thomas Chippendale Junior for Sir James Ibbetson at Denton Hall in 1778. The design of the friezes with the laurel swags is particularly close. Another table supplied by Chippendale for Paxton House in 1789 shows many of the same idiosyncratic features of this iconic cabinet makers work.
