Still life paintings, watercolours and drawings account for a small but distinctive part of Giovanni Boldini’s output. The same sugar bowl, quite possibly the artist’s own, is found in a painting of The Corner of the Painter's Table of c.1897 now in the Museo Boldini in Ferrara.
The authenticity of this work has previously been confirmed by the Boldini-De Nittis-Zandomeneghi Archives, and it is referenced under Archiving Certificate no. 418675, issued on December 18, 2017. The certificate has since been now lost. Francesca Dini has also authenticated this watercolour, which will be included in the appendix to the her Boldini catalogue raisonné currently in preparation.
