Patrick Derom Gallery

Founded in 1986 by Patrick Derom, the gallery spans a broad historical period, from around 1880 to the present day, with works from key modern movements such as Symbolism and Pop Art, while also venturing into contemporary art. A passionate collector, Patrick Derom bases his acquisitions on two essential criteria: exceptional quality and his personal enthusiasm for the artist or the work. In 2023, his son Edouard Derom joined the gallery and co-organised a landmark exhibition of Léon Spilliaert, as well as important exhibitions of leading artists such as Ai Weiwei and Fabienne Verdier. Edouard holds a doctorate from the Institute of Fine Arts (NYU), where his research focused on the ZERO group. Recently, in 2026, Sophie Hasaerts joined the team as director of the gallery. A historian with a teaching qualification in art history, Sophie has initiated numerous exhibitions in galleries and institutions. For its participation in BRAFA 2027, the gallery will present a selection of major works of modern and contemporary art by artists such as Pierre Alechinsky, Léon Spilliaert, Marthe Donas, Ben Nicholson, Ai Weiwei and Fabienne Verdier.
