An unusual Chinese export porcelain famille rose meat dish following a Hoechst faience form and painted with a floral bouquet, the moulded border with scattered flowers.

This shape is rare in Chinese porcelain and copies a type made originally in the German factory of Hoechst, with the distinctive baroque moulding on the rim, itself probably derived from a silver rim moulding.
