Featuring allegories of love, the cover with central reserve chased and engraved to depict Cupid with two cherubs, Cupid about to beat upon a drum, winged heart motif and perfume burner to one side, the image garlanded by swags, flanked by scallop motifs, within a vari-coloured gold band rim of entwined circular scrolls and foliate scrolls, similar to the base, the sides with reeded columnar ground and uprights, divided vy four maskheads upon rocaille ground and with garland swags.
