Raoul Dufy was a renowned French Fauvist painter, famous for his colourful, decorative designs. Dufy stayed in Vence, France, after the war in 1945 where he painted this artwork. He painted his model in the studio in front of a large bay window looking onto the terraced hills of Vence. In this painting you can recognise the extended brushstrokes that is characteristic of Dufy’s style in this period.
