Description & Technical information
With principal cushion cut diamond to a graduated two row border of cushion cuts, the smaller stones to the outside, partially open cut-down collet set in silver and gold, memorial inscription to reverse: 'THOS FINCH ESQ OB 23 MAR 1810 AE 53', the gallery with pierced dentil band, fluted trefoil shoulders and fluted shank.
Background:
A bust length marble sculpture of the barrister Thomas Finch (1757-1810) by Joseph Nollekens (1737-1823) and modelled in the classical style, can be found at the Taylor Institution, University of Oxford.
