Description & Technical information
This magnificent table with its combination of highly prized ‘oeil de perdrix’ rouge griotte marble, favoured by royalty throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, together with the finest chased ormolu mounts set against a patinated bronzed ground makes this a highly exceptional example. Clearly made for a particularly grand house, it follows a design by Thomas Hope and although very English in its form, displays many constructional elements indicating a French cabinetmaker.
