This standing figure, sculpted in a green diorite enhanced with cinnabar, is a wonderful synthesis of Chontal art, born in the mountains of Guerrero on the Pacific coast of Mexico, and the art of the brilliant City of Teotihuacán, installed on the high plateaus, which has radiated for more than eight centuries.

This mixture is visible through the naturalism of the face attributed to the Chontal works, and the hieraticism of the body, reflecting the conventions in force in Teotihuacán. It tends to confirm the contacts established between the two cultures and their mutual influence. In this, this work is a very beautiful testimony of what is the Mesoamerican identity, a constellation of peoples scattered but rooted in the same system of thought, who have not ceased to meet and to be imbued over nearly three thousand years. This character marks the rise of Teotihuacán, which, without erasing local particularities, has gradually imposed its standards on a large part of Mesoamerica.

The top of the head is flat. The slightly arched superciliary arches join the root of the nose. A puncture is located in the middle of the base of the nose. The nose is flat and the nostrils are well drawn. The eyes are hollowed out. The cheekbones are prominent. The mouth is hollowed out and the lips are raised. The ears are prominent and straight.

The neck is wide and the head is set on the shoulders.

The shoulders are wide. The torso is sculpted. The arms are short and held along the body. The legs are short and separated.
