Important blue enamelled gold snuffbox. The whole snuffbox is made of translucent royal blue enamel with a fine guilloche pattern of polka dots.
The hinged lid is decorated with a central medallion surrounded by white and green and red enamel beads. On the oval medallion is delicately enamelled a scene representing two young women dressed in antique style in an undergrowth. They adorn a statuette of Cupid with garlands of roses. At their feet, the symbols of Love: the quiver and two doves. A stylised floral frieze enhanced with green and red enamel on an amatized background. The frame has four enamelled panels alternating with enamelled antique vase motifs. Some wear to the enamel.
The snuffbox is presented in its leather case.
