The scrolled arms carved with anthemion and lotus leaves with applied gilt bronze paterae, united by a turned and reeded baluster carved with lotus leaves. The shaped and upholstered back with moulded gilt border. The similarly moulded seat frame supported by four turned and spirally fluted legs terminating in castors.

This impressive daybed is inspired by a design for a ‘Chaise Longue’ plate 63 in George Smith’s ‘A Collection of Design for Household Furniture’ from 1806.

This daybed retains most of its original gilding and is now upholstered in a handmade striped silk fabric.
