An exceptional carver’s adze composed of a handle of caribou antler, a blade-socket of antler, a large nephrite adze blade, the whole strapped together with leather and sinew binding. There are three wood inserts for extra strengthening. Alaska. Possibly from the collection of French explorer August Berard (1796-1852).
