Description & Technical information
European or Chinese Market
Price: £36,000
A fine Chinese porcelain punchbowl painted in famille rose enamels with a continuous scene of Chinese hunters.
This is unusual in having no decorative border at the rim, with the hunting scene elegantly arranged around the bowl in a dynamic and lively manner. This style would have appealed to Chinese taste as much as to the Western market at the time.
References: an identical bowl is on display at Osterley Park, West London, (National Trust).
Date: 1740
Period: Qianlong period circa 1740
Origin: China
Medium: porcelain
Dimensions: 39 cm (15³/₈ inches)
Categories: Oriental and Asian Art
