Description & Technical information
After Rey, Tabriz, Qazvin and Ispahan, Teheran only became capital of Persia in 1796.
Teheran never acquired a position of great prestige on the carpet-market despite some interesting productions. Royal manufacturers started workshops already at the end of the 18th century but did not really succeed in developing a personal and recognizable style. There is not much documentation left. Teheran played a more important commercial part considering its role as a centralizing bazar for the export.
