In 1910, J. & J. Kohn showed this suite designed by Josef Hoffmann at the exhibition in Buenos Aires from which it got its name. Numerous lamps and objects made by Wiener Werkstätte were also presented at this exhibition. Thus it was only natural that Josef Hoffmann, who had already been hired by J. & J. Kohn to design a whole house for the 1908 Kunstschau, would also be given responsibility for the conception of the Buenos Aires exhibition, where he would show many pieces of furniture designed by himself (comp. Desk no. 17 from our 14th Autumn Salon 2013).
