Description & Technical information
The bezel and hoop of the ring are made of one piece of gold, the oval bezel engraved between two Greek crosses with a Greek block monogram that corresponds to that of the emperior Z, E, N, O, for Zeno[n] (474-475, 476-491). Although his reign was fraught with political and religious dissent, Zeno is remembered for seeing the end of the western Empire and for stablizing the east during a period of turmoil.
