Description & Technical information
This jambiya has chased gilt copper decoration that depicts large blossoming flowers amongst foliage and curling leaves. The velvet scabbard is of a pale green with chased floral gilt copper mounts. The handle of the jambiya of clear rock crystal with natural veins of light coloured amber. A Kutch sword is published in Robert Hales, Islamic and Oriental Arms and Armour: A Lifetime’s Passion, England, 2013, p. 183, pl. 436 and has very similar floral decoration depicted on the mounts of the scabbard.
