The 15th edition of the Palm Beach Jewellery, Art & Antique Show opens in the US state of Florida this week. The exhibition will bring together 170 dealers at the Palm Beach County Convention Centre from 15 to 20 February, offering exceptional fine art, Asian art, jewellery, furniture, silver, glass, textiles and more.
Amongst the new dealers to the show this year will be Abellán New York, the exclusive dealer of the work of Italian artist Abellán, who is renowned for her contemporary jewellery creations. Also debuting will be London Fine Art dealer Richard Green, who specialises in Impressionist, Post-Impressionist and British paintings. Buzz is building around two in situ sculptures that will be installed at the entrances to the exhibition. The sculptures were created by Dutch silver sculptors Rob and Jaap Thalen, who are famous for their hand crafted vessels. These large-scale works will be the first by the artists to allow viewers to walk through them.The fair will continue its tradition of hosting illuminating panel discussions. Among the special presenters this year will be Antiques Roadshow glass appraiser Arlie Sulka; Connie Gray of London-based fashion illustration gallery Gray M.C.A.; Scott Defrin of European Decorative Arts, who will offer advice on navigating recent changes in ivory laws; and Ben Macklowe of New York-based Macklowe Gallery, who will share specialised knowledge about Art Deco jewellery. The invitation-only Vernissage night is Wednesday 14 February, with proceeds benefiting the Cancer Alliance of Help & Hope.
