Description & Technical information

The sheet bears a label with the number 380 lower left. The back of
the cardboard of the framing bears another label, partially removed,
annotated: V.A (D ?).2/380 and probably meaning : Atelier Degas, 2e
vente ; below, trade label of Adam-Dupré, framer 19 bis rue Fontaine in
Paris.

According to Paul-Andre Lemoisne, the major part of the
pieces described in the sales catalogues under the section "Impressions
en couleurs retouchees par Edgar Degas" might be rare counter proofs of
monotypes or pastels, enhanced by the artist. Cf Degas et son
